    • NOTE for those who still need to complete this assignment: You are searching the web for a recent scientific discovery in a news article and filling out the assignment sheet according the instructions. The aim is to develop you scientific literacy by both reading about new discoveries, assessing their claim validity, and communicating the main points. The second assignment is identical, expect that the second article is a related article to that of your first (these are often included as recommendations on the same page, but not always...you may have to search Google or other sources to find related topics).

    • RESOURCE:

      Because there continues to be high numbers in absences and most of our work in the class is activity based, I have found a helpful resource for those wishing to complete electron circuit work at home, vitually. For example, if you still need to complete your Resistor lab, it can be done using the following resource:

      Tinkercad: Tinkercad is a free, easy-to-use web app that equips the next generation of designers and engineers with the foundational skills for innovation: 3D design, electronics, and coding!

      • to use Tinkercad, follow the hyperlink above.
      • create an account using your email (all students have Office 365 emails and STKRS emails; you may also use your personal email if you are comfortable doing so).
      • Once you have signed up, you can use the program for free. 
      • Setting up your virtual circuit: 
      1. Click the "Autodesk Tinkercad" icon on the top left corner of the site after signing into your account. This should take you to your dashboard.
      2. On the left hand side and under your name, you should see design options. Select "Circuits"
      3. Once you have selected circuits, you should an option to press a green button that says "Create new Circuit." Select this.
      4. Your tinker-space should be open now. To select a breadboard and other useful components (resistors, batteries, multimetres, etc.), look under the "Components" menu on the right hand side of your screen; there is also a search tool there if you are having trouble finding what you are looking for.
      5. Note that if you select a resistor, you can change its value (#ohms) by clicking on it. It will allow you to name it and give it a value. Note also that the coloured bands change depending on the value you give it. 
      6. make sure to have a multimeter component.

      In a nutshell, Bernoulli's principle tells us about the relation to fluid flow rate and pressure. 

      • The faster a fluid's speed, the lower the pressure. 
      • The slower a fluid's speed, the higher the pressure.
