      LAB SIMULATION INSTRUCTIONS:

      To perform the lab, use the following SIMULATION. Follow the instructions below for use.

      1. The lab activity asks you to start by flipping 100 coins. To do this on the simulation, you will need to select 100 coins right beside "Flip"
      2. you will also need to select a type of coin. I suggest the Canadian Penny, but I'll leave that to you. 
      3. Click on the "Flip Coin(s)" button to perform your first randomized flip.
      4. Follow the lab procedure and count how many heads you have. The number of "heads" will be the number of coins you flip next (Number of pennies remaining). 
      5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the button "Go Back" This should take you back to previous screen.
      6. Change the "Flip" number to be the number of heads you just counted and do this process again...and again...and again until you have no pennies left as per the procedure. 

    • Radiation Research Project: 

      Over the following week, alone or in pairs, you will develop a research project on one or more types of radioisotopes. The project takes the place of a unit test and will cover everything learned thus far. Below is your project outline which includes all criteria, instructions, and a marking rubric. Please review this thoroughly. All of the research may be done online. You have the option to use the provided outline to record some of your research; however, you may also write it in your own format, including a separate word document, a notebook, etc. As you will read in the outline, the final project piece has a great deal of student choice. You may present your work in nearly any form you wish, as long as all of the criteria is met. Please check with me before making a decision on how you wish to present it your work. You will not need to do a presentation to the class, but your work should be accessible by anyone who wishes to read and look at it. If you have any questions, you may email me or ask me in class. 


      We will aim to have this project done by the end of the week, but can adapt deadlines depending on how efficiently the week goes. You will be provided laptops and internet access in class between Monday and Wednesday this week.
